Description
Company at the top of the Chianti Classico, it is located in the splendid territory of Radda, in one of the most precious areas of all for the cultivation of Sangiovese. Thanks to an altitude that exceeds 400 meters and stony soils, rich in marl and alberese, the vine expresses itself with a particularly fresh and refined profile, which enhances its best qualities. It is the historic label of the company, produced since 1971 with 90% Sangiovese and 5% each of Canaiolo and Colorino. Fermentation takes place in concrete, with maceration on the skins for about 3 weeks. Before bottling, the wine rests for 24 months in large Slavonian oak barrels.
Tasting Notes :
A legendary Sangiovese with character. The Montervertine opens on the nose with typical scents of jammy sour cherries and black cherries. This is followed by an olfactory complexity of a Sangiovese characterized by spicy notes of star anise and cinchona without covering a pleasant hint of vanilla tobacco. Even on the palate, it confirms its structure on the palate. A persuasive tannicity accompanies the well-balanced relationship between savouriness and freshness. A persistent and fruity finish. Of a unique longevity, capable of being appreciated many decades after the harvest.
