Description
The 30-year-old “Pirovolikes” vineyard is planted with the grape variety Vilana and is still traditionally pruned as a bush vine. Regarded as one of Heraklion’s most privileged vineyards, it is situated at 650m altitude on a rocky, southeast-facing slope. The must is fermented in stainless steel for 12 days before being matured in 500lt, 400lt and 225lt, new and re-used French, Acacia and Caucasian oak for 2 months. The resulting wine is of high concentration and aromatic complexity.
Tasting Notes :
Pale yellow in colour. The wine shows fine aromas of wild flowers and citrus fruit with delicate herbal notes and a touch of spice and cedar from the oak. On the palate, it is complex with crispy acidity, marked by a long fruity and slightly mineral finish.
