Description
Lyrarakis family uncovered East Crete’s potential since the 1970s. Initially in the “Voila” plain and later in the surrounding areas, they have identified exceptional vineyards where the great grape variety Assyrtiko thrives. The Assyrtiko were hand-harvested in 20kg boxes during the last days of August (one month earlier than usual) with skin contact carried out at 12°C for an average of 24 hours, while 8% of the grapes had fermentation maceration on skins. 40% of the must had spontaneous fermentation and 12% of the wine matured in oak for 4.5 months.
Tasting Notes :
The wine is bright yellow-straw in colour revealing aromas of white-fleshed fruit and citrus flowers with chalky notes and hints of fresh green herbs and sweet spices. The mouthfeel is full flavoured and structured, with balanced and well-integrated tannins and acidity with salty freshness and a long crisp, mineral aftertaste.
