Description
The Tokaj-Hétszőlő Szamorodni Sweet Bio 2020 is an organic sweet white wine from the historic Hétszőlő vineyard, founded in 1502. This wine, made from partially botrytized Furmint grapes and healthy bunches—come from the Nagyszőlő and Hétszőlő vineyards, is fermented and aged for one year in oak barrels. The Hétszőlő vineyard was, and still is, recognized as one of the area’s best because its loess-based soil produces aromatic and softer wines. Because of its great location and attributes, Hétszőlő has had a long list of famous owners, including Gáspár Károly (Hungarian translator of the Bible), Gábor Bethlen (Prince of Transylvania), the royal Rákoczy family, and the Habsburgs. These days the winery is owned by Michael Reyber, a French investor who owns the highly-regarded Cos d’Estrournel Estate in Bordeaux.
Tasting Note :
The bouquet is intense and expressive, with notes of ripe tropical fruit, apricots, floral nuances, honey and dried fruit. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, supple and seductive, with a long, harmonious finish that re-enhances the fruit aromas. This Szamorodni goes well with desserts with dried fruit, nut cake, crème brûlée, blue cheese and foie gras. Also ideal as a meditation wine with a digestif.
