Description
Château Rieussec is considered one of the jewels of the Sauternes and Barsac appellation. Ever since the 1997 vintage, vinification has been conducted in slightly used French oak barrels from Château Lafite Rothschild. Some small percentage of the wine is aged in new French oak, depending on how the vintage is shaping up. The Rothschilds have made a plethora of improvements both in the vineyard and at the facilities, and the results speak for themselves. Composed of 75% Sémillon and 25% Sauvignon Blanc.
Tasting Notes :
The color is delicately golden with soft reflections of green. The nose is intense and richly aromatic. The first notes of citrus peel are followed by notes of lemon tart, then toasted notes reminiscent of freshly baked brioche. On the palate, we find aromas of tangerine peel and candied orange, highlighted by a touch of star anise that highlights the aromatic freshness of this wine. The rich, dense palate has good length with a good bitterness on the finish.
