Description
Yering Station has firmly established itself amongst wine lovers as an exceptional Yarra Valley wine producer, sourcing fruit entirely from the Yarra Valley. The winemaking team, now led by the highly experienced cool climate specialist Willy Lunn, remains committed to producing wines which express the characteristics of the region, with particular emphasis on varietal flavours, structure and balance. This example is innovative; 98% Shiraz and 2% Viognier, but fermented to traditional methods and aged in trusted oak barrels. The ‘magic’ Viognier adds an element of opulent aromatic character to the nose and softens the palate, a technique used traditionally in the Cote Rotie area of the Northern Rhone.
Tasting Notes :
The village Shiraz has a powerful nose of blackberry, blackcurrant and liquorice and tiny hints of black pepper, whilst the palate is structured with soft tannins and hints of French oak. A match made in heaven for chargrilled steak.
