Description

Named after the abandoned mountain railway line that is found on the property, Passagem’s Quinta das Bandeiras is located opposite Vale Meão in the heart of the Douro Superior. The100-hectare property was bought by Quinta de la Rosa’s Bergqvist family in 2005. A joint venture with esteemed winemaker Jorge Moreira, Passagem seeks to highlight the Douro Superior’s enormous potential through expressive wines that combine rich refined fruits and aromas with excellent poise and freshness. Such is the quality and potential of Bandeiras’ vines that the Passagem Grande Reserva 2009 won the best wine in Portugal. The wine is a blend of 80% Touriga Nacional, 15% Touriga Franca, and 5% Souão maturing for 18 months in Allier French oak casks (50% new).

Tasting Notes :
On the Nose, The wine shows lovely ripe blackberry, cherry and raspberry fruit aromatics. Its pronounced flavour spreads in the mouth with vigour and considerable length. The tannins are well present, but of fine structure. The wine will give great pleasure for many years to come and will bring out new aroma facets with every year of life.
