Description
This Carménère is a reflection of the high altitude vineyards of Apalta, Valle Colchagua, being an atypical wine of Chilean examples of Carménère, where the height and the planting of the mountain make it a powerful, expressive wine with great tension in the mouth. A very particular Carmenere of vineyards at 500 m altitude, low intervention oenology and selection of low-yielding grapes which surround a large oak tree, Nothofagus Oblique, which gives the wine its name. Ventisquero Obliqua is made with blend of 94% Carménère, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2 % Petit Verdot, striking an elegant balance and limited production wine that matured for 22 months in oak barrels.
Tasting Notes :
Deep red in colour with violet hues. The nose presents notes of fresh red fruit like raspberries, intermingled with hints of white pepper and herbal notes, along with soft spice. In the mouth, this is a very elegant wine with firm structure and pronounced, chalky tannins, fresh acidity and it is well-balanced and long. Definitely a Carménère worth cellaring.
