Description
Liatiko 100% – The “Aggelis” vineyard, planted on native rootstock of the Liatiko grape, highlights the authenticity and wealth of eastern Crete. The low yields lead to small grapes, of exceptionally high berry density, which are then vinified, almost uncrushed, in small vats. Respect to natural micro-flora that defines fermentations, results in a rare wine, characterised by a self-sufficient flavour and aromatic fullness.
Tasting Notes :
Classic bricky colour of Liatiko even in youth. The aromas are classic too: sweet and dried red cherry, red plums that are ripe but not quite as dried as prunes, even if they are heading in that direction, sweetly spiced, just a little bit leathery. Cherry liqueur even though it is a dry wine. Remarkably juicy given the quite fierce tannins, which are accentuated by the high acidity. Dry and chewy and absolutely needs food now.
