Description
On the road from Fronsac to Pomerol, the Guinaudeau family owns this ‘stopover’ with clayey gravel soils where they have planted vines of Château Lafleur origin through a massalle selection of vines. The vineyards of Les Perriers are planted to 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc. The Cabernet Franc comes from a massale selection of Bouchet Franc, the original name for Cabernet Franc. Located just slightly outside of the Fronsac appellation, in Mouillac, the vineyard is well-placed on the edge of the peak of the Fronsac limestone plateau. The wine is vinified in traditional cement vats and is aged in an average of 33% new, French oak barrels for 15 months.
Tasting Notes :
The 2019 Les Perrieres is composed of 2/3 Bouchet (Cabernet Franc) and 1/3 Merlot. Deep garnet-purple in color, it opens with considerable oak scents on the nose followed by a core of red and black plums, plus suggestions of fruitcake and Indian spices. The full-bodied palate is packed with oak-laced fruit, supported by chewy tannins and a lively backbone, finishing savory.
