Description
Between the Alps and Provence, the Domaine de Fontbonau unveils its first wine (grande cuvée) which is a result of 90% Grenache blended with 10% Syrah. Fontbonau is organic by conviction, in winemaking, there is as little intervention as possible, home-grown yeasts are used, whole bunches are partly fermented, and little sulphite is used. Maturation takes place in 1/3 tank, 1/3 in ‘second-used’ oak barrels and 1/3 in large barrel. The second-hand barrels for the red wine comes from Château Latour.
Tasting Notes :
In the nose, you are met by the classic notes of dark fruit, sweet spices and licorice. The aroma expression is followed by blueberries, cocoa, cloves and a lovely undertone of soil in the taste. Razor-sharp balance between acidity, tannin and alcohol. A wine with a huge potential that can easily be drunk now, but will age gracefully in the cellar.
