Description
Having lost his entire crop to frost in 2017, Franpois Despagne is certainly back with a bang in 2018 with a super-refined, perfumed and fleshy grand vin. This is the 207th vintage that the Despagne family has made from this terroir, so they know a thing or two about how to get the best out of the vineyards. The Château Grand Corbin-Despagne 2018 is a blend of 75% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Franc, 1% Cabernet Sauvignon and aged for 18 months in French barrique, around 35 to 50% of which is new.
Tasting Notes :
Expressive berry fruit flavours in the nose, with fresh juicy flavours interspersed with liquorice, cedar and pepper. Classic on the palate but with good lush fruit to balance the quite tannic structure. Lovely purity on the finish. A well-made wine with lots of charm for early to mid-term drinking.
