Description
Château Fonroque is a Grand Cru Classé, standing on a beautiful 22-hectare vineyard straddling the limestone plateau of Saint-Emilion and on a foot of sandy clay slopes. Since 2006 the vineyard has been certified in organic agriculture and since 2008, certified in biodynamic agriculture. Made from a blend of 86% Merlot and 14% Cabernet Franc, Château Fonroque 2019 is then aged in oak barrels (30% new barrels) for 12 month.
Tasting Notes :
In the glass, Chateau Fonroque exhibits a beautiful purple color with ruby red highlights, and distils a beautiful bouquet of ripe, crushed black fruits coated in notes of dark chocolate, dried flowers, and various spices. On the palate, a moderate attack full of aromas of plums and cooked blueberries supported by a velvety tannic line. In the mid-palate, the fruity notes develop, expressing all their freshness, then a touch of spices emerges on the long and remarkably persistent finish.
