Description
Vineyards have been growing around the Chateau de Camensac, a magnificent 18th century Chartreuse, for several centuries. Previously called Château Camensac, this Château is a fifth Grand Cru Classé Pauillac of the prestigious 1855 list. The vineyard covers 75 hectares of deeply drained gravelly slopes. Made with 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, all the grapes are harvested by hand and the wine is aged in its entirety for 14 to 18 months in 60% new barrels.
Tasting Notes :
The wine is bright and clear with a dark colour. There are recurrent aromas of black pepper and rose. The structure is fine with plenty of substance on the mid-palate. This is a balanced, powerful wine. The finish is very long, recalling the red fruit of the initial nose with well-integrated oak.
