Description

Carillon d’Angélus is the second wine of Château Angélus, one of Saint-Émilion’s most renowned estates, currently led by Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal. First released in 1987, Carillon is drawn from dedicated plots on the cooler slopes and foot of the hill, where Merlot dominates, supported by Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Winemaking follows the same attention to detail as the grand vin, with gravity-fed vinification, temperature-controlled wooden vats, and élevage in French oak, typically with fewer new barrels to preserve fruit purity.

Tasting Notes :
Carillon d’Angélus delivers a clear expression of its origin: dark berry and plum fruit on the nose, with hints of graphite, cedar and dried herbs. The palate is structured yet supple, with fine tannins and freshness lending shape and length. While made for earlier drinking than the first wine, Carillon carries the mark of Angélus and performs well with mid-term cellaring.
