Description
The Brunello di Montalcino Vigneti del Versante is produced of Sangiovese from various vineyards, typically Cancello Rosso and the lower part of Pian Bassolino. Its character, always different yet clearly identifiable, takes life in contrasts and tensions which, from time to time, develop amongst its many facets. Like an orchestra seeking pure intonation, the greatest challenge is the attainment of a complex harmony apt to leaving a striking impression. All harvested grapes for the Brunello di Montalcino were carefully hand-selected on the triage table. Spontaneous fermentation started in one day and taking 21 days until completion. The young wine then macerated for other 20 days on the skins. After racking, the young wine was aged for 48 months in two 25 hl oak barrels and in one 12,5 hl oak barrel.
Tasting Notes :
Very deep, complex, expressive aromas of red cherries, raspberries, balsamic oils, violets and sweet spices on the highly perfumed nose, clearly recognising the terroir of Sesta. Great fibre and density on the palate, with much of this power coming from the heavier soils of the vineyards. The overall expression is profound and precise, with pungent aromas of wild berries, liquorice, lavender and lightly toasted almonds. Violets on the finish, supported by a silky, fine texture.
