Description

While Barolo is celebrated worldwide for its bold character, Marengo focuses on finesse, crafting wines that reveal the region’s intricate mosaic of soils, exposures, and elevations. Marengo tends two prized vineyards on Brunate’s famous south-facing, silty-limestone slopes. These plots are widely regarded among the region’s finest, a distinction made even more remarkable in an area that is now prohibitively costly. Barolo ‘Brunate’ Riserva are made with 100% Nebbiolo from La Morra Cru Brunate all hand-harvested and aged for 24 months in French oak barriques (10% new), then 6 months in stainless steel, followed by an additional 24 months in bottle. Only 5200 bottles produced.

Tasting Notes :
The Barolo ‘Brunate’ Riserva characterized by an intense aromatic complexity with notes of ripe red fruits, withered flowers, spices and mineral nuances, typical of the production area. Prolonged aging in wood could add further layers of complexity, with hints of vanilla, tobacco and leather, resulting in a wine of great depth, structure and aging potential. This hypothetical Barolo “Brunate Riserva” would be ideal in combination with rich and intense dishes, such as braised red meats, game, truffle-based dishes and aged cheeses, demonstrating the ability of Mario Marengo’s wines to accompany Piedmontese and international gastronomy with elegance and power.
