Vacherin Mont d’Or AOP (or simply Vacherin) is made from unpasteurised cow’s milk in the foothills of the Jura Mountains from the 15th August to 31st March. Swiss people call this cheese Vacherin du Mont d’Or and in France, it is called Vacherin du Haut Doubs. Creamy and soft in texture with the unmistakable aroma of alpine milk. Before eating, the cheese can be heated in the oven, in its own box, for about 15 minutes until it becomes runny.
