Description
Vinsanto is made in Tuscany from “uva passita”, which are dried grapes. Then the young wine is placed in “caratelle”, small Slavonian barrels of twenty to one hundred liters. Three-quarters full, the barrels are sealed and lie under the roof, where they are exposed to strong temperature fluctuations. After three to five years, the barrels are opened. In the meantime, half of the wine has evaporated. Torre a Cona uses only the best grapes of Trebbiano and Malvasia, which gives it a special, slightly almond aroma. The golden to amber yellow colour is unique. Real Vinsanto, like the one presented here, is actually priceless.
Tasting Notes :
An intense nose with aromas of apricot, raisins, dried figs, almonds, hazelnuts, and candied fruit at the end. The palate is sweet and delicate with softness’s that prevail overpowering the bouquet. The residual sugar is well integrated maintaining a great balance to the wine.
