Description

Of very limited production, Malpuesto wine is a single varietal of Temperanillo made by Bodegas Orben with grapes from the vineyard that gives the wine its name, a plot of 1.2 ha planted around 1931. Located at an altitude of 520 metres, it is made up of very poor sandy soils, with little water retention. The vines have very low yields and a very special character. It is one of the most venerable vineyards in the DOCa Rioja. This red Rioja underwent malolactic fermentation in new barrels, with manual punch-downs to achieve greater creaminess. Finally, the Malpuesto rested for 15 months in new fine-grained French oak barrels and was bottled without filtering, stabilizing, or clarifying.

Tasting Notes :
This Tempranillo stands out for its expressive aromas of ripe black fruits, wild berries and quite marked balsamic hints. There are also a pleasant roasted background, notes of freshly ground coffee and pure tobacco. These aromatic notes, together with the wide range of spices and lactic notes, add depth to the aromatic whole. On the palate it is fresh and structured, with a broad, creamy and fleshy mid-palate, with a very good balance between acidity and velvety tannins, which provide a remarkable complexity. The finish is long and suggestive, with aromatic hints of ripe fruit, balsamic notes and elegant toasted notes.
