Description
Fugue de Nénin was created and first sold in 1997. Fugue comes from sandy-clay soils found in the eastern part of the Château’s vineyards, as well as from the young vines. This second wine is a typical example of the charm of Pomerol. Fugue is a reference to music; it means a repetition of the main theme. This name makes sense when you taste the wine – Fugue complements the tonalities of its older sibling extremely well, while providing its own attractive and entertaining rendition. The blend is richer in Merlot than for the Grand Vin (Fugue’s blend: 88% Merlot / 12% Cabernet Franc), as greediness is sought above all in this Second Wine. The vinification is done traditionally, the wine is then blended before maturing in barrels, 30 % new, for this second wine.
Tasting Notes :
Deep purple colour with violet hue and almost black core. Aromatic and powerful nose with ripe plums and black cherries, discreet spiciness and hints of elegant toasting aroma in the background. On the palate well structured and balanced with juicy character, appetizing freshness, pleasant fruit and convincing length.
