C.N. Kopke is the oldest Port Wine company. It was founded in 1638 by Cristiano Kopke and his son, Nicolau Kopke who had come to Portugal as Consul of the Hanseatic League. Adding up 4 centuries of success in the world of Port wines, the Kopke brand, acquired in 2006 by the Sogevinus group, is today a reference of prestige, maintaining the quality objectives that have guided it in the market over the years, is especially recognized in the Harvest Ports, with high notoriety in the sector. A wine of high quality, made from one single harvest. A Colheita wine matures in oak barrels for periods of time that can vary, but never less than 7 years. It is then bottled and sold according to the demands of the market.
Tasting Notes :
A vivid amber colour. Impressive aromas, with notes of dried fruit and liqueur. Wonderfully balanced, with smoothness and good structure. Seductive and appealing freshness. An elegant and persistent finish. It reveals all its finesse and sophistication, especially when drunk with desserts made with caramel, dried fruit and spice, such as caramel fondant with apple and ginger jelly, tarte tatin, crème brulée and medium-strength cheeses.
