Description
On the slopes of Saint-Émilion, the estate spans 10 hectares. The winemaking team cultivates Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, some of which are over a hundred years old. Château Trotte Vieille boasts plots that were phylloxera-free, contributing to the vineyard’s unique character. The wine was made from a blend of 54% Cabernet Franc, 44% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon The grapes are harvested by hand and placed in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for a maximum of 20 days. After 18 months of aging in oak barrels, 100% renewed each year, the wines are blended. The Premier Grand Cru Classé B is enjoyed alongside the second wine, La Vieille Dame de Trotte Vieille. These are elegant and refined wines that reveal themselves to the delight of connoisseurs of fine wines from the Right Bank.
Tasting Note :
Château Trotte Vieille wines are characterized by aromas and flavors of ripe red fruits, such as cherry, raspberry and plum. You can also find notes of blackcurrant, violet, sweet spices and sometimes subtle woody notes from aging in oak barrels. On the palate, the wine is generally silky, with well-integrated tannins and a lingering finish.
