Description
The vineyards of Château Berliquet are located on the western flank of Saint-Émillion and have remained virtually unchanged in their parcelling for over 200 years. Like Rauzan-Ségla and Canon, Berliquet now belongs to CHANEL. The contiguous 10 hectares are planted exclusively with Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The same team that also works for Château Canon carries out precise analyses to ensure that the planting is optimally matched to the diversity of the soil. Made 75% Merlot, 23% Cabernet Franc and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon, the wines are then matured for 16 months in barrels in the limestone quarries and also in eight large amphorae.
Tasting Notes :
The nose reveals notes of blueberry and fruit jam (strawberry, blackberry). The palate is fresh, beautifully harmonious, elegant, mineral, aromatic, precise, balanced, concentrated, racy, powerful and offers a beautiful silky and dense matter. In the mouth it expresses notes of juicy fruits, blueberry, red cherry, raspberry and slight notes of blackberry (in the background) associated with a few notes of sweet spices, toasted as well as fine touches of dark chocolate and slight notes of coffee on the finish. Tannins are well built. This wine has a beautiful potential!
