Description

Montevertine’s top cuvée is only produced in outstanding vintages. Aged in large Slavonian oak barrels for 18 months and then racked into small French oak (Allier) barrels for the final six month stage of its elevage. The Sangiovese blend (Sangiovese: 90%; Canaiolo: 5%; Colorino: 5%) is produced primarily from a two hectare vineyard planted in 1968 exclusively to Sangiovese vines with a north-northeast exposure.

Tasting Notes :
The wine shows an intense ruby red color, with garnet hues that appear as it matures. On the nose, it exhibits notes of ripe red fruits such as cherries and blackberries, coupled with subtle hints of violet, tobacco, and spices, derived from the elegant aging in wood. On the palate, the wine is rich and complex, with a perfect balance between acids and well-structured tannins. The finish is persistent, leaving a pleasant sensation of harmony and depth. This wine is an excellent choice to accompany rich and structured dishes, such as roasted red meats, game, and aged cheeses.
