Description
The “Phigaia After The Red” by Serafini & Vidotto was born in Veneto in the municipality of Nervesa della Battaglia near Treviso. The winery was founded in 1985 in a place where there were woods, valleys and hills that could become an excellent setting for the vineyards. The wine is made with a blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown on hilly foothills oriented east-west.The dictates of organic farming are followed, in order to respect the entire ecosystem surrounding the vineyards: controlled compost and certified organic fertilizers are used, without the use of herbicides. It ages 12 months in steel and 12 months in second-passage oak barrels.
Tasting Notes :
Phigaia After the Red is ruby red with great luminosity and a slight garnet hue on the rim. The first nose is intense, ample and inviting with fruity notes of sour cherries and blackcurrants. Then there are elegant vegetal perceptions of officinal herbs and roasted peppers. The entry on the palate is excellent and convincing, with fresh, fruity notes, round tannins of great elegance that add softness to a savoury background and balanced alcohol content; a long, spicy finish with notes of liquorice.
