Description

The wines of Chateauneuf du Pape are noble wines of the Southern Rhone, the finest from this region. The name ‘House of the Pope’ came from the fact that the Pope found shelter here many, many years ago fleeing persecution. Bel Ami is an assemblage of 4 varieties, sourced from the lieux-dits of Croix de Bois, the Chateauneuf du Pape Bel Ami consist of 70% Grenache, with 10% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre and 10% Cinsault. The wine is aged in 30% pyramid shaped concrete vats, 30% wooden vats, 30% stainless steel, 10% demi muids (600L) barrels.

Tasting Notes:
Soft round tannins, a very elegant wine. The nose shows red and black fruit bouquet (cherries & blackberries), hints of garrigues, christmas cake and peppery spice. The palate is medium to full-bodied and the structure is provided by silky tannins and crisp acids. This wine will open up beautifully once decanted.
